Brave Buglioni battles back to capture British Title

Frank Buglioni claimed a dramatic 12th round stoppage of Hosea Burton to capture the British Light Heavyweight Title at the Manchester arena last night.

It was an epic battle from the first bell and one that both men can be extremely proud of. It seems scores were settled and both men earned the respect of each other as the victor tweeted a picture of the fighters waiting together for stitches after their war.

Buglioni moved to (19-2-1 15 ko’s) in the dying minutes of a fight that looked like it had slipped his grasp inflicting Burton’s first defeat of his professional career in what surely has to be a fight of the year candidate.

Both men came out of the blocks fighting an the early round were hard to split with Burton boxing well at range and Buglioni desperate to get on the inside and make it count when he did, it was an enthrawling light-heavyweight contest that entertained throughout.

The blood started to flow during the middle part of the fight with Buglioni looking worse off with a nasty cut above his left eye which needed inspecting by the doctor, this seemed to make him ensure he had nothing left in the tank as he gave it everything.

From the middle rounds Burton looked like he was starting to take control of the fight and for the first time established a lead over his rival then landed some teriffic shots in the 9th and 10th to stamp his authority.

If he was to think he had knocked the wind out of Frank’s sails though, he was hugely mistaken. Buglioni found another gear in the 11th and put Burton on the canvas, then in the final round topped off a courageous performance with a teriffic right hand which saw the referee stop the contest after Burton pulled himself back off the canvas but was unsteady on his feet.

It was a classic British Title fight that showcased 2 absolute warriors who can both hold their head extremely high. Credit to both lads.
